Tema, Dec. 13, GNA — Tema Parents’ Association School (TEPAS) at the weekend rewarded its students, teaching and non-teaching staff for their commitment and dedication over the years as the institute climax its 49th Speech, Prize-giving Day and 2021 Graduation.
Mrs Gifty Odartey Wellington, a teacher and TEPAS’s oldest employee, who has worked for the past 35 years, received a Lounge set in recognition of her service to the institute.
Mr Peter Kumda, Mrs Olive Buahen, Mrs Victoria Suttah and Mr Alex Mumuni, who have all worked for 25 years, were each given a medium size freezer as a token of appreciation.
Eight Staff members who have served for 20 years were awarded a Gas Cooker with grill oven each; 14 others who served for 15 years were awarded 32-inch television sets each and 12 people others were given tabletop fridge each for 10 years of service.
Miss. Chelsea Adomako, a graduating student and former School Prefect, received nine awards as the overall best student
Miss Adomako advised the students to put in more effort to learn and to know that the sacrifices would pay off in the end.
Miss. Henrieta Forson, Junior High School (JHS2) student, received nine awards as the overall best student in Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, Religious and Moral Education, Informations and Communications Technology, Pre Technical Skills, Asante Twi and French.
Mr Sylvanus Adjetey-Sowah, Assistant Headmaster, told the Ghana News Agency that the awards were to encourage students to put in more time and effort in their studies.
The 2011 student presented the KG2 student with a 43-inch television set to assist with their E-learning.
Mr Yohane Amarh Ashitey, Tema Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), praised TEPAS for encouraging and promoting Ga Language in the school.
Mr Amarh Ashitey said in collaboration with the Tema Traditional Council, there were plans to award scholarships to students to study the Ga Language to be employed to teach and promote the Ga Language.
Mr Amarh Ashitey said the Assembly was ready to support all secondary schools in Tema through the provisions and resources available.
He said the assembly would organize the Tema Metropolitan National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) to help prepare students adequately for the regional and national competitions next year.
The TMA MCE commended Chemu Senior High School for making it to the semi-finals of the NSMQ.
