Krowor NCCE Municipal Director urges students to be law abiding

Accra,Dec.09, GNA- Mrs Wilhelmina Adu Asamoah, Krowor Municipal Director, National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has urged students to be law abiding as they pursue their rights and responsibilities and become conversant with the constitution as citizens.

She said this during the maiden edition of the Municipal’s “1992 Constitution Quiz Competition” which was organised by the NCCE in the Krowor Municipality.

Mrs Adu Asamoah said the purpose of the Quiz competition was to educate the students on how their individual rights could be respected, imbibed and protected as individuals and future leaders.

She added that as NCCE served as an educational and civic institution to the public, it encourages both adults and young adolescents must be law abiding, adding that education on rights and responsibilities could be better enforced through the younger ones when they become conversant with the constitution.

The Municipal Director said that 16 schools across the Municipality participated in the selection process for the Quiz Competition but four Schools were finally selected to contest for the grand finale.

She stated that the best school would be awarded with Certificate of Recognition signed by the Education Director of the Municipality and customised NCCE exercise books.

Koma 1 JHS, Quaye Nungua JHS, Seventh Day Adventist JHS and St. Michael JHS contested for the grand finale of the competition.

Saint Michael JHS won the “1992 Constitution Quiz Competition” for 2021 with 135 points. Quaye Nungua JHS came second with 130 points while Kroma 1 JHS came third 117 points. The Seventh Day Adventist JHS was fourth 115 points.

Nii Afotey Bortwe II, Presiding Member, Krowo Municipal Assembly, advised the students to learn the constitution to know their Rights and responsibilities as citizens.

He encouraged them to learn hard and also presented an award to the winning Schools.

The competition was Member of Parliament, Krowo, Madam Agnes Momo Lartey and other dignitaries.
