GTA wins Corporate Support for Arts and Culture award at 2021 GACA Awards

Accra, Nov. 23, GNA – The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has won the Corporate Support for Arts and Culture awards at the just ended 2021 Ghana Arts and Culture Awards (GACA).

The Awards organized by the Arts and Culture Company is aimed at rewarding excellence within the arts and culture industry and also promote tourism in the country.

It is also to recognize the work of individuals and institutions that projected the Ghanaian arts and culture within the year.

Mr Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Corporate Affairs Department, GTA, receiving the award on behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and Staff of GTA, commended the organisers for the initiative, because such acknowledgement and recognition would encourage sector players not to relent in their efforts.

He said culture, arts and traditions, were part of the key pillars on which the “Year of Return” was initiated and followed by the “Beyond the Return” which has become successful across the Globe.

These interventions, he noted, were initiated as a way of pushing more investment into the arts, culture, tourism and hospitality space, and admonished Ghanaians to appreciate the rich Ghanaian culture and tradition where ever they found themselves.

“Let’s appreciate our food, clothes, dance, music, arts, festivals, and tourist sites, because they form the core of our heritage as a people thereby entrenching our Pan African legacy across the continent.”

Mrs Edna Nyame, Chief Executive Officer, National Commission on Culture, said the awards scheme was in line with her outfit’s mandate of promoting Ghanaian cultural heritage and recognizing excellence.

She said in an era where western influence had dominated the local culture, with the youth forgetting all about Ghanaian values, the Commission was pleased to have partnered the event to help promote and preserve the Ghanaian cultural identity.

He congratulated all the award winners and encouraged other players in the industry to up their game, in other to also gain such recognition in the future.
