Nsuaem (W/R) Nov. 14, GNA – A total of 4,096 candidates in the Tarkwa-Nusaem Municipality would take part in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) slated for Monday, November 15 across the country.
Out of the total candidates, 2,096 representing 51 per cent are females while 2,027 representing 49 per cent are males.
In all, 101 Basic schools which consist of 64 public and 37 private schools are involved.
The examination would take place at seven major centers within the Municipality namely; Tarkwa Senior High School, Fiaseman Senior High School, Saint Matthew Roman Catholic School, New Atuabo Basic School, Dadwen School Complex, Dompim Methodist Basic School, and Ghana Rubber Estates Limited (GREL) Basic School at Nsuaem.
Mr Alex Kwaku Duah, the Tarkwa-Nusaem Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and said special arrangements have been made for candidates who schooled at Benso and its environs to write their papers at Mpohor District.
According to him, last year, about 3,630 pupils sat for the examination but the figure has increased this year, stressed that, the education directorate was impressed.
He urged the candidates to report to the examination centers on time and also eschew all forms of examination malpractices.
Mr Duah appealed to the candidates, supervisors, and invigilators to strictly observe the COVID-19 safety protocols in all the centers.
