Accra, Nov. 11, GNA – The Volta Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Ebenezer Azumah, has asked victims of Sunday’s tidal waves not return to their homes.
Mr Azumah who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in a telephone interview, said though the sea water had receded it was not advisable for the victims to go back now.
He said buildings affected by the waves were not safe and pleaded with the victims to remain at where they had been temporarily relocated.
Mr Azumah said some relief items, including bags of rice and cartons of cooking oil, mattresses, bedsheets, blankets, bowls, cups and buckets had been given to the victims.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Keta, Mr Emmanuel Gemegah, told the GNA that the Assembly was engaging local authorities and opinion leaders on how to address the situation.
