Techiman (BE/R), Oct. 15, GNA – Mr. Kwasi Adu-Gyan, the Bono East Regional Minister, has directed the region’s Municipal/District Chief Executives (M/DCEs) to be innovative in discharging their duties to achieve targets and improve the standard and living conditions of the people.
He said the M/DCEs must also explore and adapt the practical use of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) as a tool to improve the quality and efficiency of service delivery to the citizenry.
That would also improve efficiency in revenue mobilisation, harness the tourism potentials, enhance security, protect the environment and ensure prudent use of resources in the Municipalities and Districts, the Regional Minister added.
Mr. Adu-Gyan gave the directive after he had sworn into office nine Municipal/District Chief Executives (M/DCEs) out of 11 at the Bonokyempim hall in Techiman, the regional capital.
The MCEs consisted of Mr. Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw, Mr. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko and Mr. Edward Owusu for the Kintampo North, Techiman South and Atebubu-Amantin Municipalities respectively.
The DCEs were Mr. Opoku Nyame, Everson Addo Donkor, Peter Osei-Fosu, Jerome Gamsobibe, John Anyaaba and David Manu for Kintampo South, Techiman North, Nkoranza North, Sene East, Sene West and Pru West.
Madam Diana Attaa Kisiwaa and Mr. Joseph Kwaku Abonkrah, the Nominees for the Nkoranza South Municipality and Pru East District were not confirmed by their respective Assembly Members.
Mr. Adu-Gyan urged the M/DCEs to be law-abiding public servants and work closely with the traditional authorities because they were the custodians of the lands.
He stressed the effective cooperation of the traditional authorities was important to promote peace and progress, which the Regional Minister added could determine the success or otherwise of each of them.
Mr. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, a Deputy Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development and a Member of Parliament for Techiman South, advised the M/DCEs to be hard working to justify their appointments.
Mr. Owusu, the MCE for Atebubu-Amantin on behalf of his colleagues pledged they would not betray the confidence reposed in them by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, but would work assiduously for the social and economic growth of their assigned areas and Ghana in general.
