Tema, Sept 16, GNA – The Hilton Foundation International, a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Accra has organized a free eye screening exercise for the Mama Happy Life Enhancement Foundation (MAHLEF), an NGO that focuses on teenage mothers and children in Tema Newtown.
The exercise, which attracted 165 adult community members and 51 children, was conducted by Light Optical located at the Tema motorway roundabout.
Mr Gbetodeme Dickson Senyo, the Senior Optician revealed that reading glasses were given to participants while others were given medications.
He stated that four people would require surgeries performed on their eyes saying “two people were diagnosed with matured cataract in both eyes and two others with matured pterygium in both eyes.”
Mr Christian Hilton, the founder of the NGO, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the NGO was established five years ago to show love and offer hope to the children and the community.
Hilton Foundation, Mr Hilton stated, was founded to discover and help orphans and less privileged in society to maximize whatever talents they had in the area of music and other vocation.
He believed that the little things done to put smiles on the faces of the children would go a long way to impact their lives.
He noted that the exercise was to create a platform for orphans as he believed that the lives of less privileged kids could be impacted when they get the same opportunities as rich kids.
Hilton Foundation, Mr Hilton stated, was founded to discover and help orphans and less privileged in society maximise whatever giftings they have in the area of music and vocation.
The Reverend Mrs Georgina Happy Crentsil, MAHLEF Founder, commended the NGO for helping to improve the health conditions of teenage mothers, children, and community members.
She also, on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the NGO and Light Optical for their services rendered and appealed for financial support for participants who may require surgery to successfully undergo one.
