Nkawie (A/R), Sept. 10, GNA – There was drama and prolonged laughter at the Nkawie circuit court when a suspect accused of beating a police officer admitted to smoking Indian Hemp (“wee”) and doing “things in styles”.
“I smoke weed, king-size cigarettes and do things like laughing and eating in style”, Kwabena Yeboah, 24, stated in response to a question posed to him by the Presiding Judge, Mr Michael Jonhson Abbey.
Yeboah was brought before the court for assaulting and causing harm to Corporal Eric Asante, a police officer at Atwima-Akyeremade.
He was remanded into police custody to reappear on September 22, this year.
Detective Chief Inspector Comfort Amankwaa told the court that, on April 17 this year, the complainant who resided in the same vicinity with Yeboah, asked him to stop the sexual harassment on his (complainant’s) sister-in-law.
Yeboah became offended, picked a stick, and hit the complainant’s mouth resulting in a deep cut in the mouth.
A report was made to the Suntreso police who arrested Yeboah and in his caution statement, he admitted the offence and was therefore charged and brought before the court.
