Tema, July 6, GNA – Sampsong Amegadzie returned a net score of 68 to win this year’s Tema Country Golf Club President’s Putter Championship played at Tema.
He was followed by Daniel Asamani with 69 net, beating Elias Kofi on count-back while Nicholas Appiah took the fourth position with 70 net.
In the Group ‘B’ segment, Weig King Young came first with 69 net, Papa Otoo took the second position with 71 net while Dennis Etwi-Barima placed third with 72 net, beating Eben Ayanful on count-back.
The Ladies segment was won by Grace Afriyie with 72 net, beating Mona Myles Lamptey on count-back while Mercer Werner placed third with 74 net.
Maxwell Osei Bonsu whose effort won him 141 gross, came first in the Professional’s category, beating Biggie Chibvuri on the ‘sudden death’ while Francis Torgah placed third with 142 gross.
The one-day event which attracted 120 golfers was sponsored by Tema Women’s Hospital with support from Voltic Ghana Limited, Blow Chem Industries Limited, GT Radials, MTN Ghana Limited and Guinness Ghana Limited.
Dr Paul Owusu Baah, President of the Tema Country Golf Club commended the participants for the sportsmanship exhibited throughout the games.
He called on the youth to take an active interest in the sport so as to stay healthy at all times.
Mr Kwadwo Antwi Boateng, General Manager of the club said plans were very far advanced to change the name of the club to Centre of the World Golf Club.
