Tumu (UWR), June 30, GNA – Home Ladies Foundation, an association of women in the Sissala East District has presented some items to the Maternity Ward of the Tumu District Hospital in the Upper West Region to support in health care delivery.
They included; 140 bed sheets, 120 pillow cases, 160 towels, five boxes of hand gloves and one (1) BP apparatus.
Madam Boamah Fatima, a member of the association who made the donation on behalf of the group, said the presentation was to complement efforts in improving health care delivery especially in the area of maternity.
She pledged the association’s intentions to adopt the Tumu maternity ward and support it saying, “We would want to adopt the maternity ward because mother and child would benefit as well as every woman.
When a child is born, it is born into a community and a family, so we thought that, it is a great place to start with”.
Madam Fatima gave the assurance that the Association would continue to support the hospital in the future saying, “This is not the end but the beginning of great things to come, this is just the beginning of the friendship, as time goes on, and we will reach out to you”.
Dr Charles Wood, the Medical Superintendent at the Tumu District Hospital who received the items commended the association for the kind gesture and promised to make judicious use of them.
He praised the members for the decision to adopt the maternity ward, adding that it would help reduce the day-to-day challenges the hospital was confronting in the maternity ward.
Home Ladies is an association of women formed some three years ago on the foundation of togetherness, love and community service, made up of women from Nanyua, a suburb of Tumu.
