Accra, June 29, GNA – The Heritage and Cultural Society of Africa (HACSA), a Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO), is to hold a “Sankofa Virtual Summit 2021” to bring the African diaspora together.
The summit is expected to help promote and preserve African Heritage and Culture for socioeconomic development.
The event, on the theme: “Bridging the Gap; Cultural, Linguistic, Geographic”, is slated for July 3 to 5 this year, and aimed at linking people of Africa descent in the diaspora with the continent.
The summit would take place on air meet, and other innovative and interactive virtual conferencing platforms.
The programme is being sponsored by Fidelity Bank Ghana Limited and expected to bring together, heads of State, opinion leaders, captains of industry, academics, students, and Africa enthusiasts, according to a press statement.
The statement said previous speakers for the last summit included Mr John Agyekum Kuffour, Ex-President Of Ghana, Samantha Tross, first black female consultant, Orthopaedic surgeon in the UK, Dr John Kani, acclaimed South African Actor, producer and playwright(Black Panther) and Lisa Opoku, Managing Director and Partner of Goldman Sachs.
It said speakers for the upcoming virtual summit would include, Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda; Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady of Ghana, Malcolm Jenkins, active NFL player and record two-time winner of the SuperBowl; Peter Akwaboah CEO of Operations, Technology and Firm Resilience at Morgan Stanley; and Dikembe Mutonbo, former NBA player and philanthropist.
The statement said the HACSA Foundation was founded by Ambassador Johanna Svanikier, former Ambassador of Ghana to France, Portugal, UNESCO and La Francophonie, whose objectives were to grow its membership rapidly around the globe with programmes and projects, which would help bring an end to prejudice and systemic racism through advocacy, education, innovation and collaboration.
The statement said the Foundation’s mission was to use heritage and culture as drivers of socio-economic development to empower Africans and black people throughout the African diaspora to be narrators of their own stories.
It said the participants would have the opportunity to engage in activities such as engaging keynote speakers, participate in panel discussions, explore the virtual exhibition arena and watch unique performances from the Grammy –award nominee musician, Rocky Dawuni and award-winning afrobeats artist, Kidi
