Sege (GAR), June 28, GNA — Mr Ebenezer Okai, the Chief Executive Officer, Global Street Foundation, has entreated parents to take keen interest in their children’s education to secure them a brighter future.
He said parents were major stakeholders in quality education delivery since they were the first point of contact, hence had the duty to nurture them into responsible adulthood.
Mr Okai made the call when the Foundation and its partners, Cass Foundation, handed over a refurbished three-classroom block with furniture to the Sorkope Basic School near Sege in the Ada West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
He said many of the children had peculiar problems not known to their parents, which had the tendency to affect their academic work.
Mr Okai appealed to parents to inculcate sound morale principles in their children.
He tasked students to take their studies seriously and desist from all forms of negative tendencies that may ruin their future careers.
Mr Jacob Kwetey Narh, the Headmaster of the school, commended the Foundation for its immense contribution to the development of academic work in the school.
He said the school, with 216 pupils, faced infrastructure challenges and appealed to other benevolent organisations to emulate the shining examples of the NGO and support the school.
Nene Teye Sowu III, the Chief of Sorkope, commended the Foundation and its partners for the support and urged the school management to maintain the block to prolong its lifespan.
Nene Sowu led the Foundation to plant trees around the enclave in support of the Green Ghana campaign.
Mr Okai was honoured as Noya Matse, (development chief), for his contribution to the development of the community with the stool name Nene Koletey Sowu I.
