Twifo Atti-Morkwa (C/R), June 24, GNA – The Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Assembly has presented dual desks, furniture and chairs to the District Education Directorate for distribution to basic schools in the district.
They are made up of 400 dual desks and 30 teachers’ tables and chairs funded with the District Assembly Common Fund (DCF).
The eleven beneficiary schools, include; Twifo Nyinase basic school, Twifo Praso basic school and Twifo Catholic basic school.
Mr Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi, the District Chief Executive (DCE), presenting the items on behalf of the Assembly, said the provision of the items would ensure children learn in a conducive environment and a testimony of the Assembly’s resolve to improve facilities in all basic schools in the district.
He said the furniture would also impact on teaching and learning to improve performance of pupils in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
“The periodic provision of furniture to schools by the Assembly have achieved significant improvement in the performance of the BECE results in the Twifo Ati-Morkwa district over the last three years,” he said.
He, however, appealed to school authorities in need of such facilities to officially inform the Assembly and the Education Directorate to enable it respond to their needs accordingly.
Mr Takyi Anthony, the District Director of Education received the furniture on behalf of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and expressed profound gratitude to the Assembly for its unalloyed support to bring quality education to the door-step of all regardless of location.
He entreated all the beneficiary head teachers to ensure timely maintenance of the furniture in order to prolong their lifespan.
