Takoradi, June 11, GNA – Mr Abdul- Mumin Issa, the Mayor of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, has led a group of school pupils to plant trees within the Metropolis as part of the greening Ghana initiative.
He said the involvement of the school children in the exercise was to help shape their thoughts on good environmental practices.
The Assembly, in collaboration with Goshen Global Vision, an NGO, would plant over 8,000 trees.
The exercise started at the old hospital school in Sekondi, which saw many of the school children participating in the exercise.
Mr Issah was thankful for the onset of the rains, which would see to it that most of the trees got the right atmospheric temperature to thrive…” after the rains, these children will take up the challenge to make this work.”
He said many of the principal streets, beach front and other designated areas would benefit from the green Ghana concept.
