Kotoko hammer Bechem United 4-0 in an outstanding GPL game

Accra, April 7, GNA – Asante Kotoko recorded their highest scoreline in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) by beating Bechem United 4-0 in an outstanding league game at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Wednesday.

Black Stars defender Ismail Abdul Ganiu opened the scoring in the 13th minute when his strike from 25 yards beat goalkeeper Daniel Afadwo in post.

Kotoko who are playing their first official game under Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto controlled the entire proceedings leaving their opponents to chase their shadows throughout the game.

Brasilian import Fabio Gama made it two before the end of the first half after Augustine Okrah released an accurate pass in the box for the Brazillian to slot home.

On resumption, Coach Barreto introduced Godfred Asiamah to his play with Captain Emmanuel Gyamfi making way and they managed to increase the tally through Francis Andy Kumi with a swift header.

Another Brasilian import Vinicius Michael was introduced into the game with 10 minutes left, and he recorded the fourth goal in the dying minutes of the game to seal victory for Kotoko.
