Takoradi, March 22, GNA – The Omanhene of Lower Dixcove, Nana Kwesi Agyeman IX, has called on the Paramount Chief and sub chiefs of Upper Dixcove to collectively work towards restoring peace in the area.
Nana Agyeman in a press conference indicated that together with his sub Chiefs, he was willing to cooperate with any mediator to broker peace between his people and Obrepong Hima Dekyi XIV, Paramount Chief of upper Dixcove.
On Monday March 13 this year, the mother of Obrempong Hima Dekyi, her relatives together with a sub chief from Upper Dixcove were attacked and injured at Turom.
Nana Agyeman said Turom was a peaceful and an important area, so there was the need to find lasting solutions to the problems there.
He however condemned the incident and the use of Macho men to intimidate and harm people in the area.
The Paramount Chief reiterated that it was imperative for dialogue to enable the chiefs in both Upper and Lower Dixcove to discuss all maters to bring lasting peace to Dixcove and Ahantalands.
He said the area had been a peaceful one since time immemorial and that they should rather come together as one family to solicit for development projects, instead of fueling unnecessary disturbances.
He was unhappy with some misrepresentation of issues by Obrepong Hima Dekyi XIV in his recent press conference and appealed to the public to get the facts right before drawing conclusions.
The Omanhene of Lower Dixcove commended the Municipal and Regional Police Command, the Municipal Chief Executive and Council of State Member for their collective efforts to bring peace to the Dixcove area.
The hostilities between the two Paramount Chiefs of Upper and Lower Dixcove is alleged to have been as a result of ownership of the Turom lands.
In July 2019, Nana Kwesi Agyeman was reported to have been captured at his palace by loyals of Obrepong Hima Dekyi XIV.
