Karlsruhe, March 28, (dpa/GNA) – German carmaker Daimler has filed three lawsuits against the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) related to a series of recalls it unsuccessfully contested with the agency, a court spokesperson confirmed on Thursday.
Two lawsuits were filed at the end of February, while a third was filed on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Schleswig administrative court said.
“As announced way back in 2018, we are appealing to clarify contentious issues in court,” a Daimler spokesperson said.
According to the authorities, Daimler used impermissible exhaust technology in hundreds of thousands of Mercedes-Benz diesel vehicles.
According to the carmaker, around 1.4 million vehicles produced across the European Union are affected by the recalls, around 600,000 of them in Germany.
Daimler considers the technology to be permissible and has already unsuccessfully objected to the decision.
“We are in a continuous exchange with the authorities and are cooperating fully,” the Daimler spokesperson said.
The court said it had not yet received the necessary files for the complaint. In view of the complexity of the proceedings and the high administrative burden, an initial hearing should not be expected before mid-2022, it added.
