Kumasi, March 8, GNA – Mrs. Theodosia Jackson, Principal of Jackson College of Education (JCE), has been touted as an accomplished educationist whose contribution to education in Ghana deserves commendation as the world marks International Women’s Day.
After over forty years of service in the public sector, Mrs. Jackson continues to contribute to the education sector through JCE where over 1000 teachers are produced every year since 2011.
Management of the Academic Diary, an educational magazine, is therefore celebrating her exploits in nurturing students over the years on this special day set aside by the United Nations (UN) to honour women the world over.
Mr. Michael Ampong, Managing Director of the Magazine told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Mrs. Jackson was worth celebrating considering the impact she had made in the lives of children.
He said her four decades of service in the Ghana Education Service (GES) shaped the career development of many students who passed through her hands.
“Her unique leadership style transformed the KNUST Basic School into one of the best schools in the Kumasi Metropolis after serving as an Assistant Headmistress of the Kumasi High School”, he stated.
Apart from the dedicated services that she rendered as a classroom teacher before rising to those leadership positions, Mrs. Jackson is also known for supporting needy students in her individual capacity.
This, Mr. Ampong said, defined her passion for equal access to education for all irrespective of one’s social status or financial strength.
He said Mrs. Jackson’s commitment to quality education informed the establishment of JCE with the aim of training professional teachers to address teacher deficit in the country even after leaving public service.
“Mrs. Jackson is an epitome of a virtuous woman with a golden heart willing to support everyone in need of help for academic progression”, he observed.
She has won several awards over the years not only as an educationist but also a philanthropist who has impacted the lives of the vulnerable in society.
For many years, Mrs. Jackson has been supporting inmates of the Kumasi and Manhyia Prisons with toiletries and basic medical supplies.
Last year, she singlehandedly reroofed the Manhyia Prison which was badly leaking whenever it rained.
