Dwarfs plot to deepen Hearts woes, Karela to maintain top spot

Accra, Feb. 18, GNA – The match-day 15 of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) takes center stage this weekend with some spicy and feisty duels across various league centres.

The top liner would be on Friday as AshantiGold SC welcome Aduana Stars at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium, as matches between both sides have also produced some thrilling results.

The Miners who are currently placed 10th on the league log would be looking to end their six-match winless streak especially with their devastating home loss against Liberty Professionals in the last league game.

Despite getting a precious away point at WAFA on the road, the Miners would be looking for a big scalp against the “Ogyaa Boys” who have not been bad on the road and sit sixth on the league table.

Inter Allies would be involved in a ‘must win’ against WAFA in a clash scheduled for Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The “Tampico” Boys currently languishing at the bottom of the league with eight points from 14 matches and had struggled for goals having scored six times all season.

“I’m still confident and I know it is a tough situation we are in, but it’s not impossible and we just have to continue working hard and hopefully we are going to turn things around,’’ Head Coach of Inter Allies Dani Mujkanovic told club’s website.

One of the biggest clash of week 15 would be played on Sunday as Accra Hearts of Oak face off against Ebusua Dwarfs at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The hullabaloo around the Phobian club makes this match very significant for what happens in the near future especially as they are to face off against arch-rival Kumasi Asante Kotoko the following weekend.

Samuel Nii Noi who has been appointed to lead the Phobians into this game following the resignation of Kosta Papic, would have a daunting task against in-form Dwarfs who are ninth on the league table.

Anything short of a win for the Phobian who are placed 11th would culminate in a disastrous week in the club’s history with almost all technical staff tendering their resignation.

Accra Great Olympics who are second on the league log would travel to Techiman as they face struggling side Eleven Wonders who are in desperate search of a win following their four-match winless streak despite their good start to the season.

Karela United who were stunned by Kumasi Asante Kotoko in their last home game would be looking to make amends as they host Liberty Professionals at Anyinase.

Karela United would be hoping to secure all three points in order to maintain top spot of the league and are favourites to do so.

Other matches for the week would see Elmina Sharks lock horns with Medeama at the Ndoum Sports Stadium in Ekmina, while Berekum Chelsea hosts Dreams FC at Berekum Golden City Park.

Kotoko’s clash against King Faisal has been postponed due to Kotoko’s participation in the CAF Confederations Cup as they set to face ES Setif in their second leg encounter.
