Accra, Feb. 08, GNA – The Hungarian Ambassador to Ghana, Mr András Szabó, has held a meeting with Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Minister-Designate for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, to discuss means to boost the growing bilateral relations.
The meeting discussed opportunities and interventions for citizens to drive socioeconomic advancement in Ghana and Hungary.
The visit was also to enable the Ambassador to hand over a congratulatory birthday letter and a gift sent by Mr Péter Szijjártó, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary to Madam Botchwey.
Mr Szijjártó said since the re-opening of the Hungarian Embassy in Accra, in 2016, many projects had been implemented successfully in the water, sanitation, health, agriculture and food sectors, showing the potential and commitment from both countries at the highest levels.
Madam Botchwey said after four successful years, Hungary doubled the quotas for Ghana under the Governmental Scholarship Programme, with the country sending 100 new students each year for various degree programmes.
The Reverend Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, a renowned evangelist who obtained his first degree certificate in Hungary in the 1990’s joined the Hungarian Ambassador to commend the laudable cooperation.
Dr Tetteh, who has for many years served as a facilitator for the bilateral relations, is the international coordinator for scholars trained in Hungary.
