Kpone (GAR), Jan. 6, GNA – DCOP Barima Tweneboah Sasraku II, Tema Regional Police Commander, has assured local Chiefs and residents of the adequate measures to deal with the criminal cases associated to land dispute in the Police region.
He said it was time for chiefs and traditional leaders to clearly distinguish between criminal aspects of land disputes and those which needed to be settled by the traditional council to avoid undue interference in their work as a law enforcement agency.
He indicated that the Regional Police Command would not countenance persons taking undue advantage of areas with land disputes to perpetrate crime in the guise of “Landgaurds and Agents”.
DCOP Sasraku II was reacting to some concerns raised by the Kpone Traditional Council on the increasing rate of land and boundary disputes in the areas like Apolonia and Gbetsele, when he paid a courtesy call on Nii Tetteh Otu II, Paramount Chief of the Kpone Traditional Council.
The courtesy call afforded the Regional Commander the opportunity to discuss wide-range of issues in the area, and to officially introduce himself to the Traditional Authority since his assumption of office last year.
The Regional Commander who later visited the Kpone Katamasno District Assembly assured the District Chief Executive, Mr Solomon Tettey Appiah, of his outfit’s readiness to support the assembly to combat crime in the District.
DCOP Sasraku II interacted with Senior and Junior Police Officers at the Kpone and Dawhenya District Police Stations to appreciate at first hand, the challenges they are confronted with particularly issues of welfare issues.
