Addapath supports COVID-19 fight in basic schools

Obuasi (Ash), Feb. 1, GNA – Addapath Wellness, Obuasi-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has donated quantities of carbolic soap to support some selected schools in the Obuasi Municipality to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

The soaps worth 1,500.00 Ghana cedis will help pupils of Saqafia Islamic Junior High and Boete Primary schools to wash their hands regularly while keeping general hygiene in their schools.

Mr John Okwan Kwasi Addae, Executive Director of Addapath Wellness, speaking at the ceremony, said the gesture was to promote hand hygiene among school children.

He said the surge in coronavirus cases in recent times required concerted efforts to teach the people, especially school children on the need to observe good hand hygiene to prevent them from catching the virus.

Mr Addae said proper handwashing techniques were important for the children to adopt and practice at all times and that the soaps would go a long way to motivate them to wash their hands regularly.

He said the Organization would go all out to reach more schools in the Municipality to help reduce the spread, especially among children.

Madam Mary Ajara Alhanssan, Head Teacher of Boete Primary ‘B’ School, was thankful for the support.

She called on other individuals and organizations to support schools in the area to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Madam Alhassan called for the provision of toilet facilities in the school to help promote hygiene.

Addapath Wellness is a health NGO, which focuses on preventive healthcare as a daily routine.
