Accra, Jan. 19, GNA – Basic schools begin academic work on Tuesday, January 19 in all public and private schools operating in the country; the Ghana Education Service (GES) has stated.
A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to some basic schools, such as Hope of Glory Montessori School at Mamprobi; Oblogo Cluster of Schools at Wieja; and Rehoboth Education Complex at Madina academics work has started in earnest with all COVID-19 safety protocols materials provided.
Speaking with the proprietress of Rehoboth Education Complex; Mrs Ethel Affenyi said the school disinfected and fumigated before the reopening, and gave the assurance that the authorities would ensure that student and teachers adhere to the COVID-19 safety measures strictly.
Adding that the wearing of nose masks, washing of hands the use of sanitizers and social distancing would be compulsory.
She said the school had no intention increasing tuition and therefore urged parents to provide their wards with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s).
Some parents expressed satisfaction at the COVID-19 safety measures instituted at the Hope of Glory Montessori; “with these measures, we feel our children are safe at the school premises”.
Some students at the Hope of Glory Montessori said washing of hands at both entrance and sanitizing are compulsory and strict enforcement of social distancing protocols was also administered in their various classes.
At the Oblogo Cluster of School, some parents said, the reason for admitting their wards in the school, is due to the increment of tuition in their previous schools and they find the fees in the said school to be reasonable and affordable.
GNA observed during the visit to some of these schools that despite the measures put in place some recalcitrant students and pupils were either not using the nose masks or have pulled it to the chin level.
