Nadowli, (U/W), Dec. 19, GNA – Nadowli Dynamos FC beat Charikpong Shining Stars 3 – 0 in a friendly encounter organised by Azumah Resources Ghana Limited; an Australian mineral exploration and mining company.
The Charikpong Shining Stars team appeared shaky in the first half, and therefore could not withstand the telepathy of the Dynamos FC team, that earned them a commanding victory.
The Stars however, showed glimpses of stronger outing in the second half of the game, a situation that denied the Dynamos the opportunity to increase the tally.
A good number of players from both teams exhibited talent that could be developed to the professional level.
The community relations friendly which was played in Nadowli, saw supporters of both teams on the side lines cheering their players on with the necessary passion that characterised the good old game.
Speaking during a refreshment session at the end of the game, Mr Solomon Dery, Head of Community Relations and Environment, Azumah Resources Ghana Limited, praised both teams for honouring the invitation to play in the company’s community relations friendly encounter.
“We see the soccer fun games among our host communities as means to foster improved and enduring cordial relations with community members particularly the youth while at the same time promoting healthy lifestyles”, he said.
Mr Dery noted that the idea was to gradually develop and establish an Azumah sponsored league games among host communities going into next year, which could eventually feed into local and national teams.
He said the youth were key to the company’s operations, hence the need to get them to understand their work
The Head of Community Relations and Environment for Azumah Resources Ghana Limited urged the youth of the area to develop their skills and take advantage of employment opportunities that would be presented by the company in the future.
He said the Azumah Resources Gold Project had great potentials to ignite sustainable development of host communities, Districts and the region at large and understood that the well-being of its communities and stakeholders was necessary to obtaining the social licence to operate successfully in the region.
According to Mr Dery though the company was not making profit from its operations yet, it still supported a number of community projects especially in the areas of health, water and sanitation, agriculture, sports and culture.
