Special voting underway with strict COVID-19 protocols at Sandema

Sandema (U/E), Dec. 1, GNA – A total of 393 Voters are expected to cast their ballots in the special voting exercise at Sandema in the Builsa North District of the Upper East Region.

The process which was smooth at 0930hours when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the polling centre, had all COVID-19 protocols in place with strict adherence by voters at the centre.

All Electoral Commission (EC) officials at the centre had their face masks on, and ensured that all voters equally had their face masks on, electorate on arrival at the centre were first asked to wash their hands, their temperatures are checked before they went through the voting process.

Mr Mohammed Sherifdeen Alhassan, the Builsa North District Director of the EC who was on monitoring, told the GNA that the process had so far been good, saying “So far so good.”

He said the process started on time without any challenges and was hopeful it would continue throughout to the end of the day.

A total of 113 electorate had voted as at the time the GNA visited the centre.

Mr James Maurice Abakisi, who was also on monitoring, observed that “Voting was going on peacefully. What I have seen, I am satisfied so far. If it continues like this, there will not be any problem.”

The special voting is meant for security service personnel, media practitioners and other officials who would be engaged with officials duties on election day.
