Takoradi, Dec. 01, GNA – The Special Voting exercise being undertaken by the Electoral Commission for people who will be working on December 7, has taken off peacefully in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region.
A visit by the Ghana News Agency to Kwesiminstim, Effia, Sekondi, Takoradi and the Essikado-Ketan Constituencies indicated a steady progress of the exercise.
At Kwesiminstim, voting started exactly at 0700am with the COVID-19 Ambassador around and ensuring strict compliance of the safety protocols.
Mr. Charles Kumodzi, the Presiding officer, told the GNA that 130 voters had voted as at 0900hours.
All political parties’ agents were present and Personal Protective materials supplied to aid in smooth exercise.
The situation was not different at the Takoradi Central Police station when the GNA visited.
At Sekondi, the Presiding officer mentioned that 805 voters were expected to cast their ballot.
In all, 5,390 people are expected to cast the early ballot out of the one million plus voters expected to vote on Monday December 7.
Mrs. Angelina Tagoe, the Regional Electoral Commission Director, confirmed a smooth process throughout the centres.
