Kumasi, Nov. 27, GNA – Mr Richard Agyenim Boateng, Kwadaso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has called for the active involvement of residents in promoting socio-economic development of the area.
He said constant engagement with the Municipal Assembly would help bring important ideas, decisions, and pinpoint the actual needs of the various communities to ensure prompt redress.
Mr Agyenim Boateng, made the call, during a town-hall meeting organised by the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi, Justice and Peace Commission, at Asuoyeboah, to discuss plans that would help the development of the Municipality, and also maintain peace in the December 2020 polls.
It was on the theme: “Role of Parliament, Local Authorities and Participatory Governance for Community Development.”
Mr Agyenim Boateng urged the people in the constituency to help maintain peace before, during and after the elections.
He also appealed to the people to vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to ensure the continuation of the good work that had been started in the Municipality.
Most Rev. Justice Yaw Anokye, the Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, on his part, said the developments expected in the Municipality would only be achieved through unity of purpose and advised the people to remain united and not to entertain any form of violence from any person or group.
He said the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC) was in full support and would avail itself through the church to promote this noble agenda.
Most Rev. Anokye said the objective of the initiative was to reopen the need for active participation that promoted community development.
He urged the people to desist from ethnicity and discrimination which brought divisions in community building.
Mr Lawrence Nyame, Kwadaso Municipal Director of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), urged the people to maintain peace before, during and after the elections.
He also urged the media to guard against false news and preach peace on their platforms.
Professor Isaac Boateng, Dean of Faculty of Business Education, Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneur Development, said the public had a role to play in community development.
He urged the people to actively get involved in everything that went on in the community.
Prof. Boateng advised the people to unite and maintain peace before, during and after the elections, while adhering strictly to the safety protocols outlined by the government to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
