Koforidua, Nov. 25, GNA – Fourty-seven head teachers and circuit supervisors have undergone training on E-Learning and Girls’ Safety in schools, in the New Juaben South Municipality.
The training organised by Plan International Ghana, was aimed at identifying various challenges and opportunities in education in the era of the coronavirus pandemic and its effect on the girl child and measures to mitigate the impact.
Mr Kofi Adade Debrah, Eastern Regional Director of Plan International Ghana, said internet access had become more necessary than ever adding, that “if we are talking about universal access to education then, we should also be talking about universal access to E-learning”.
He explained that the training was to improve on teaching and learning in the municipality through the use of E-learning and to focus on solutions for the shortfalls that the covid had presented to girls in the society.
Mr Boakye Acheampong, Head teacher of Ellen White Seventh Day Adventist(SDA) Basic School, said accessibility to the internet and equipment to facilitate was a challenge for both teachers and pupils especially in the semi-rural communities, and called for the need to address the challenge.
