Germany posts record 410 Covid deaths in 24 hours, says agency

Berlin, Nov. 25, (dpa/GNA) – German health authorities have reported 410 new coronavirus-related deaths within 24 hours to reach a new record at midnight Wednesday (2300 GMT Tuesday), the Robert Koch Institute for disease control announced in Berlin.

The total number of deaths rose accordingly to 14,771. The highest daily figure so far was reached in mid-April with 315 deaths reported within one day back then.

The number of new corona infections reported within 24 hours was 18,633 on Wednesday. That was a good 1,000 cases more than a week ago, the RKI said Wednesday morning.

Last Wednesday, the number of new infections reported was 17,561. On Friday, 23,648 reported cases constituted another record.

The German disease control agency has counted a total of 961,320 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic.

The RKI estimates that around 656,400 people have now recovered.
