Accra, Nov. 23, GNA – The members of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) have expressed their condolences to the family of ex-President Jerry John Rawlings whose death occurred on Thursday, 12 November, 2020 in Accra.
Mr Alfred Asiedu Adjei, the Presiding Member of the AMA and the spokesperson for the assembly members in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said the late President was a principled and just man.
He said ex-President Rawlings could be remembered for the decentralization policy, which brought governance to the doorstep of the people and later the Economic Recovery Programme to the country.
Mr Adjei said the late President’s vision of discipline permeated the entire country, where indiscriminate dumping of refuse became a thing of the past at the time.
The assembly members wished the late Rawlings a peaceful rest.
