Bolgatanga, Nov. 14, GNA – The Mastercard Foundation and Young Africa works in collaboration with the National Board for small scale industries (NBSSI) has started series of entrepreneurship training for the youth in three districts in the Upper East Region.
The training is currently ongoing in the Bongo district, Bolgatanga and navrongo Municipalities as part of a nationwide programme to equip over 39,000 young men and women between 18 to 35 years to learn, develop, and prosper.
The week-long training is also the beginning of a three- year package entrepreneurial skills development programme to promote financial inclusion and job creation among the youth in the country.
Mr Mohammed Bukari Regional Manager, NBSSI in an interview at the sidelines of the training indicated that the components were uniquely packaged to ensure that after three years of training, the young men and women would have full grasp of what an entrepreneurship was and what to practise.
He mentioned some of the components of the training as; apprenticeship, graduating into entrepreneurship, business acceleration, innovation and creativity among others being facilitated by the private sector and added that depending on the skills received by each one of the trainees, would be accompanied by starter skills and cash to fully implement their dreams.
According to him, the current incubation period which is the first level of training would expose trainees to basic Business ideas, marketing skills , market research, book keeping and business management and be graduated into prototype stages ,where trainees would put what they have learnt into practice.
Mr Bukari urged the trainees not to rush in expectation of cash up front during the training and after the training and noted that the overall essence which aimed to provide them with descent and dignified jobs by the partners was key and therefore should not rush for immediate gains and stressed that it could affect the opportunities set in place for them.
“When you have acquired the skills and have something to show then the support needed for the business will be added to you. The NBSSI Manager added in his address to the trainees.
The Regional Manager said the online application was currently closed, and however noted that similar opportunities will be rolled out soon for other districts of the region for access of more youth.
