Several elected Republicans distance themselves from Trump

Washington, Nov. 6, (dpa/GNA) – Several elected Republican officials have distanced themselves from US President Donald Trump’s allegations of “fraud” in the current election.

“This is getting insane,” said Adam Kinzinger, a congressman from Illinois, saying that legitimate concerns about fraud should be dealt with through the legal system, as he railed against spreading “misinformation.”

“There is no defence for the president’s comments tonight undermining our Democratic process. America is counting the votes, and we must respect the results as we always have before,” said Larry Hogan, the Republican governor of Maryland.

“If anyone has proof of wrongdoing, it should be presented and resolved. Anything less harms the integrity of our elections and is dangerous for our democracy,” said Paul Mitchell, a congressman from Michigan.

Senator Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania said he was not seeing any evidence of significant fraud.
