CAF President wants another term

Accra, Oct. 28, GNA – Mr. Ahmad Ahmad President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has declared his intention to vie for another term in the next elections.

Mr. Ahmed made his decision known on his official Twitter account on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

The 61-year-old extolled his achievements over his four-year-reign and concluded that he would vie for re-election for the presidency of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) again.

“CAF has seen a lot of improvements in the last four years. I’m proud of my team’s achievements. I extend my thanks and gratitude for your support and assistance in football in Africa and beyond.

“After reflection and consultation processes, I decided to stand for re-election.” He stated in the tweet.

The Madagascan last week, got support from 46 Football Associations out of the 57 Football Associations in CAF and looks set to win another term.

Mr. Ahmad would be the sole candidate for now as he is the only one to have supported his interest to compete in the March 2021 election to be held in Morocco.

The filing of nomination would end on 12 November 2020.
