Angolan President urges officials to maintain dynamic despite COVID-19

LUANDA, Oct. 28, (Xinhua/GNA) – Angolan President, Joao Lourenco has urged government officials to maintain the dynamic of functioning, despite the difficult moment imposed in the country by the COVID-19.

“We have to find solutions to the numerous problems that our country still faces,” said the Angolan President in his brief speech at the inauguration ceremony of new government officials.

President Lourenco underscored that in the face of the pandemic, the work is carried out under special circumstances, which demands maintaining the dynamic and seeking the best possible results.

Angola has reported 9,644 positive cases of COVID-19, including 270 deaths and 3,530 recoveries.

In response to the rise in the positive cases of COVID-19 in the country, the government decided to tighten the prevention measures, through the “extraordinary” Presidential Decree that entered into effect from October 24 to November 22.

The new measures include postponement of the resumption of primary education classes scheduled October 26, reduction of working days at market and others.
