Accra, Oct. 18, GNA – The La-Nkwantanang Municipal Assembly is to set up a Fund to support the Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (PRESEC) and the West Africa Senior High School (WASS) to boost their preparation towards future competitions.

Mrs Jennifer Dede Adjabeng made this known when the PRESEC team, which won the 2020 National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ called on her to make a symbolic presentation of their trophy.

She assured the team that the Assembly would in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for the area organise a special award ceremony to present to them some package for bringing honour and pride to the municipality.

Mrs Adjabeng congratulated the school management and the students for their hardwork and urged them not to rest on their oars and should continue with their team work as they strive to conquer the world of education and whatever profession they found themselves to make the municipality proud.

Mr David Odjidja, the Headmaster of PRESEC appealed to the Assembly and other stakeholders to rally support for the school for the students to undertake vigorous teaching and learning towards competitions such as the NSMQ.

He said “Our success comes with a lot of investment and rigorous training and we needed adequate assistance.

“In the last one year with the height of the COVID-19, the students were camped researching and other academic activities with supervisors making frantic efforts to win the contest having lost by an inch in the last competition.”

Mr Odjidja said the school with the needed support was determined to sustain the feat come next year, while pleading for a modern science laboratory and a mini-bus to transport students to inter-school competitions.
