Berlin, Aug. 10, (dpa/GNA) – Olympic steeplechase champion Conseslus Kipruto has tested positive for the coronavirus and will miss the Diamond League meeting in Monaco next week, he said on social media.
“I don’t have any symptoms and I was actually in great shape,” said Kipruto on Saturday. He added he had intended to chase a world record at the August 14 meet.
All athletes competing in Monaco are to undergo testing which returned Kipruto’s positive result.
“Athletics is back and I will be back as well,” he said. “Anyone willing to organise a steeple once I can be cleared?”
