Okuapemman (E/R), Aug. 05, GNA – The Okuapemman Past Students Association (OPSA) has donated some building materials to their Alma Mater, located at Akropong in the Eastern Region.
The materials are to facilitate the completion of the interior of the Home Economics Department of the School.
The gesture is also to prepare Home Economics students for their Final Year West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The items include bags of cement, packs of tiles, sinks and pipes.
Additionally, the North America Branch of OPSA, led by Mr David Aboagye and his team of executives, has donated 50 out of the 100 desks needed to support students with visual impairment in the school.
These donations were made upon requests by the management of the School.
Presenting the items to the Management of the School, Mr Stephen Asante Bekoe, President of OPSA, said the welfare of the students was dear to the heart of the Association.
“In our bid to lift the banner of the School higher, the Executives and OPSA in general continue to work hard to supplement the efforts of the Government by providing the resources that are needed by the students, the staff and generally the School,” he said.
“It is in the light of this that the Association has deemed it necessary to deliver these items to the School to ensure the adequacy of resources necessary to promote effective teaching and learning processes in the School, as well as the welfare of the students.”
Mr Bekoe encouraged the students to continue to adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols so that they stayed safe during and after the WASSCE.
The Headmaster of the School, Mr Atiemo Akuffo, lauded OPSA for the contribution and support to their alma mater.
He also praised members of the North American Branch for their benevolence.
” Words cannot express our gratitude to you,” he stated.
Okuapemman School was established on 8th February 1957 by Barrister Maxwell Opoku Akyeampong and it currently has a student population of more than 3300.
