EC begins final phase of voter registration exercise in 22 centres

Fodome (V/R), Aug. 01, GNA – Mr. Enoch Danso Agyekum, the Hohoe Municipal Electoral Officer, has said the Commission has begun its final phase of the ongoing voter registration in the Hohoe Municipality at 22 centres.

The Centres include; Fodome Helu Roman Catholic (R.C) Primary School, Gbi-Wegbe Community Centre, Fodome Helu Old C.M.B. Shed, Fodome Tormegbe Community Centre, and Fodome Hloma Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Primary School.

Other centres are Fodome Dzogbega M/A Primary School, Wli Afegame R.C Primary School, Wli Agorviefe M/A Junior High School (JHS), Gbi-Wegbe Market Site, Fodome Agbesia Community Centre, Wli-Dzogbega Community Centre, Fodome Agbetsido/Woe M/A Primary School and Gbi-Wegbe E.P Primary School.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to some registration centres saw adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols with safety materials in place.

Mr. Wisdom Kpontsu, a Registration Officer (R.O) at the Fodome Helu Roman Catholic (R.C) Primary School, said a total of 41 voter cards were issued with the new voter card adding that no coronavirus related issue was recorded.

The Fodome Tormegbe Community Centre registration centre was almost empty when the GNA got there.

Mr. Randy Adzato-Ntem, the R.O at the Centre said as at 1130 hours, 52 registrants successfully went through the process that the 2019 Electoral Register captured 155 eligible voters in the Community.

Mr Agyekum said about 48,000 eligible voters were captured as at the end of phase five of the registration adding that the exercise was successful across all the centres.

He said a projected number of 58,000 voters were expected to be captured at the end of the entire exercise in the Municipality on Thursday, August 6, 2020.

Mr. Agyekum said any incident of double registration in the Municipality would be detected for the appropriate action to be taken at the Commission’s Headquarters.
