Nyakrom (C/R), June 30, GNA – The Nyakrom Traditional Council has presented Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) worth 25,000 Ghana Cedis to Agona West and East Health Directorates as part of efforts to assist frontline workers to protect themselves against COVID-19 pandemic.
Okofo Katakyi Nyarkoh Eku X, Omanhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area who made the presentation, cautioned residents of both Agona West and East to adhere strictly to health protocols outlined by Health experts to tame the virus.
He said the Traditional Council deemed it fit to support efforts of the Central Government and individuals who had made various contributions to provide PPE to the frontline workers since the outbreak of pandemic four months ago.
The Omanhene stated that the Traditional Council could not sit unconcerned but to offer its widow’s mite to support the two Health Directorates in the area to motivate them to work hard to save lives and themselves.
Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku said the government had spent huge sums of money to procure medical supplies to every health facility nationwide including those in the rural areas to protect the lives of the citizenry.
He stated that Agonaman would continue to rally behind the frontline workers in the area, adding that, government had done it part and it was up to the citizens to play their parts to contain the virus.
He praised the staff for their courageous, selfless, love, dedication and humility in rendering services to patients and urged them to keep it up.
The Omanhene praised the government for the stimulus packages instituted for healthcare workers nationwide since the outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic to motivate them to give off their best.
He called on the COVID-19 Taskforce for both Agona West and Agona East not to rest on their oars but strive hard to campaign against the spread of the virus.
He said it was sad to note that some Ghanaians have grossly ignored the protocols as if nothing was at stake, and called for attitudinal change towards the fight against the pandemic saying, the best option was to contain the virus.
The Omanhene urged residents of Agona West and East, especially the youth to wear nose masks and observe all the stipulated protocols to contain the virus, which had devastated global economies.
Mr Asare Amankwa, Senior Physician Assistant of Agona Nyakrom Health Center, thanked the Omanhene and the Traditional Council Members for their sense of patriotism and responsibility to the two directorates.
He said the health workers would never disappoint the residents of Agona West and East and also assured Okofo Eku that the items would be distributed fairly to enhance effective management of the COVID-19 crisis.
