Hweehwee (E/R), June 26, GNA – Madam Abigail Nkansah, the Kwahu East District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education(NCCE) has called for the intensification of public education on the coronavirus especially at hard to reach areas.
She expressed worry at the rate of ignorance about the fast-spreading COVID-19 pandemic in many communities in the Kwahu East Municipality and assured that the commission would do all it could to raise the level of awareness among the people in the Municipality on the coronavirus.
Madam Nkansah was speaking at a public forum at Hweehwee in the Eastern Region to educate the people on the novel coronavirus pandemic and the need to observe the government’s directives to minimize its spread in the municipality.
The forum forms part of the public education campaign being organized by the NCCE in the municipality to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus in the municipality.
The communities visited include Kotoso, Borokuwaa, Pepease, Suntre, Hyewohoden, Twefredede, Manfekope, Nkwantanan, Asempaneye, Sakakuro, Asseseeso, and Ahenease.
Ms Nkansah called on the people to welcome people who contracted the coronavirus and had been cured into their communities and avoid any discrimination against them and their families.
She called for political tolerance as the country gradually prepare for the 2020 elections.
