Wassa Akropong (W/R), June 21, GNA – Delegates in Wassa Amenfi East Constituency have failed to give the Member of Parliament (MP) another mandate to contest the Parliamentary seat.
The incumbent MP, Mr Patrick Bogyako-Siame, who was seeking re-election for the second term lost with 234 votes.
His only contender Mr Edward Amo-Acquah, an engineer won with 562 votes out of the 800 total ballot cast. There were four rejected ballots.
Addressing Party loyalties after the elections, Mr Amo-Acquah implored all NPP members in the Wassa Amenfi East Constituency to bury their differences and work to achieve a common goal.
He further asked them to remain united to enable the voting pattern favour the NPP in the upcoming December 7 elections.
The incumbent MP, Mr Bogyako-Siame, thanked the citizens of Wassa Amenfi East Constituency for giving him the opportunity to serve them.
Supporters of Amo-Acquah later took to the principal streets of Wassa Akropong to celebrate his victory.
