Accra, June 20, Mr Patrick Yaw Boamah, MP for Okaikwei Central, seeking re-election as the parliamentary candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the general elections next December was on Saturday acclaimed by the Electoral Commission (EC).
He was acclaimed by Madam Eunice Yeboah Quaye, the Municipal Election Officer of the EC, at the second round of the party’s primaries being organized in 168 constituencies where the party has sitting Members of Parliament.
Madam Quaye acclaimed the candidate-elect in the presence of Constituency Chairman George Commey, Madam Perpetual Asante, Representative of the Party at the Greater Accra Region; Mr Emmanuel Ocloo, Member of the Constituency Election Committee, Elders and other delegates present to witness the acclamation.
From the Apenkwa, Gbemomo, Blemagoor, Blessed Assurance, and Olengleh Koo Naa polling Stations, the delegates, wearing party tee-shirts, with nose masks with a picture of Mr Boamah embossed on them, stood and hailed Mr Boamah as the best partner for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to retain the NPP in the constituency and the general polls.
Addressing the delegates, Mr Boamah, who is also the Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, thanked God for the day and extended appreciation to the party hierarchy for the peaceful conduct of the primaries.
He noted that President Akufo-Addo and the NPP Government deserve a second term to continue the life-enhancing projects being pursued in the constituency and nationwide.
He said there would certainly be a reward for hard work and victory, and noted that working for victory demanded more efforts, and assured the delegates that reward would come with victory.
Mr Boamah urged the delegates to see themselves as leaders and not to engage in anything that would bring the party into disrepute/
He called for vigorous house to house campaign in the next few months to the elections.
The Okaikwei NPP Parliamentary Candidate Elect assured the delegates of victory based on hard work, good campaigning that espoused the achievements of the NPP, stating that about 1.2 million pupils have become beneficiaries of the NPP Government’s Free SHS policy.
He urged the delegates and other party faithful, and the general Ghanaian electorates not to entrust the nation into the hands of people who would toy with the destiny of the nation.
Equally, the electorate should not be swayed by propaganda on social media, but go to the right people and other sources to access information.
He stressed unity, dedication, commitment, integrity, and loyalty to the course of the party and the nation.
Mr Boamah advised the electorate to register in the voter registration exercise to be enfranchised to vote.
