Juaso (Ash), June 19, GNA – Mr. Edmund Oppong-Peprah, one of the candidates contesting the Asante-Akim South parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has implored the delegates to reward loyalty by endorsing him.
He said despite losing to the incumbent in two previous primaries, he remained committed to the cause of the party and worked closely with constituency executives and other relevant stakeholders to grow the party in the constituency.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Juaso ahead of the June 20 primaries, he expressed optimism that the delegates would endorse him overwhelmingly this time around.
He said his previous defeats did not deter him as a committed member of the party and continued to serve both the party and people in the constituency, mostly from his own resources.
Mr. Oppong-Peprah who is a lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University, said he would pay particular attention to improving standard of education in the constituency when given the nod.
“For the past four years, I have been organizing quiz for Junior High Schools in the constituency as part of my commitment to improve performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)”, he stated.
He said the initiative had significantly improved BECE performance in the last few years and promised to commit more resources to the programme when he becomes the MP.
He assured the delegates that he would touch base with them as an MP and feature them prominently in all welfare schemes he intended to roll out for the general wellbeing of the constituents.
Mr. Oppong Peprah said he had exhibited enormous leadership qualities since he joined the parliamentary race in 2012 and was convinced that the delegates would endorse him ahead of the other four contestants.
