NPP primaries: Parliamentary aspirants, delegates urged to comply with rules of engagements

Accra, June 19, GNA – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged its parliamentary aspirants and delegates to strictly adhere to the rules of engagements spelt out by the National Executive Committee, including the COVID-19 health protocols for Saturday’s primaries.

It entreated all delegates and parliamentary aspirants not to engage in activities that could tarnish the Party’s image, especially at a time when the popularity of President Akufo-Addo had risen for his exemplary leadership during this period of global health crisis.

This was in a statement issued by the Party on its Twitter page on Friday, June 19, 2020, ahead of the parliamentary primaries in 168 constituencies with sitting members of Parliament.

It said the timing was crucial in sending the right signal that the country could equally conduct other democratic exercises including the Electoral Commission’s biometric voter register before the December 7 Election.

“Let it be said once again that the NPP went into the primaries and came out as a much stronger party poised to winning the 2020 general election in order to deliver prosperity to the Ghanaian people.

“It is indeed, doable and we shall do it again,” the statement said.

It said the primaries provided an opportunity to demonstrate its unrivalled democratic credentials, which endeared it to the rest of the world as the citadel of democracy in Africa and beyond.

The Party, therefore, congratulated and wished all aspiring parliamentary candidates, who have been cleared by the NEC to contest the election, all the best.
