COVID-19: Non-State Actors donate nose-masks to groups in Sunyani

Sunyani, June 02, GNA – Non-State Actors, Ghana, (NSAs) a non-governmental organisation has presented 200 approved re-suable nose masks to identifiable vulnerable groups in the Sunyani Municipality to protect them from contracting the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

The beneficiaries were the Ghana Federation of the Disability (GFD), People Living with HIV/AIDS and hawkers – head potters, wheel barrow and truck pushers.

Mrs. Theresah Agyei-Mensah, the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Chair of the NSAs who did the presentation for onward distribution to beneficiaries underlined the need to support them to cope with the COVID-19 environment.

She noted the susceptibility of the beneficiaries to contracting the disease was high and urged them to wear the nose masks, wash their hands with soap under running water and avoid hand shake.

Mrs Agyei-Mensah told them to ensure adherence to the social and physical distancing protocols among themselves to protect each other.

She emphasised the NSAs, a consortium of academia and CSOs worked to improve health outcomes for majority of Ghanaians, especially the vulnerable and assured their continuous support to help protect them from contracting the COVID-19 and to also make life comfortable for them.

Mrs Esther Sarfowaa Boakye, the Head of the Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) Unit of the Sunyani Municipal Hospital thanked the NSAs for the support, and appealed to other corporate bodies to come to their aid and help protect the health officials and the 991 active clients on the ART from contracting the disease.
