Accra, June 2, GNA – Arla Foods, producers of one of the country’s leading milk brands Dano milk, has donated its products to frontline health staff at the Tema General Hospital to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
The items worth thousands of Ghana cedis were handed to the Medical Director of the Tema General Hospital, Dr Richard Anthony.
The donation also coincided with the celebration of World Milk Day, which is marked on June 1 each year to highlight the importance of milk in people’s diets and how essential to have the protein element in our foods.
Speaking at the event, the Country Manager for Arla Foods Limited, the Danish-based company, Fatouma Doro said the donation is to celebrate frontline health workers who have exhibited selflessness in this Covid-19.
“All across the world, frontline health workers are laying down their lives to battle this novel virus which has crippled economies with many people unable to do what they do best”.
The donation of Dano milk, she said is to help boost the immune system of the frontline health workers as it contains all the essential minerals to make individuals and be strong.
“This is why we at Arla foods have thought it wise to celebrate health workers and their immense contribution” she added.
Mrs Doro advised Ghanaians to be cautious about their health and eat healthy and quality products.
Receiving the items, Dr Richard Anthony expressed profound gratitude to Arla Foods for the donation and for selecting Tema General Hospital to mark World Milk Day.
He underscored the need for Ghanaians to observe all the safety protocols since the virus might be with us for a long time.
Dr Anthony commended the efforts of other individuals and organisations helping in diverse ways to curtail the spread of the virus and thereby protect fellow citizens.
