Accra, June 2, GNA – The Rebecca Akuffo Addo Foundation has donated COVID-19 relief items to the Ghana Wheelchair Basketball Federation (GWBF).
The donation was made on behalf of the First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akuffo Addo, by Mrs. Akosua Newman, the Director of Operation, Rebecca Akuffo Addo Foundation.
It includes bags of rice, face masks, boxes of sanitizers, boxes of wheat, boxes of Nido, boxes of milkshakes, boxes of chocolate spread, and bags of detergents.
Mrs, Newman said the first lady considered it great responsibility as the mother of the land to respond to the request from the federation.
She said Mrs. Rebecca Akuffo was passionate about persons with disabilities and ready to assist them whenever the need arises.
“It is in view of this that within 48 hours she responded to the urgent request of the federation,” she added.
Mr. Max Varden, President of GWBF expressed appreciation, to the Rebecca Akuffo Addo Foundation and the First Lady for her good gesture.
He acknowledged that the intervention had come at the right time as the federation would make good use of the items for the purpose it has been donated for adding that, it would go a long way to support Athletes in this COVID 19 era.
Mr. Wilson Yao Agbesi, the Secretary-General of the GWBF lauded the Rebecca Akuffo Addo Foundation and the First Lady for the support adding that there was the need for future support for the federation.
“To be very honest, I am really surprised. It’s amazing how the mother of the land has spoken and we do appreciate it a lot.
“We made the request and within 48 hours the mother of the land listened to our cry and urgently come to our aid. The love is deep,” he added.
Mr. Agbesi appealed to other corporate bodies, organizations, celebrities, churches, philanthropists, and individuals to come on board to support the Federation with any form of relief items at this critical.
