Accra, May 28, GNA – Some staff of the Lands Commission have donated 400 pieces of face masks to support the Commission’s fight against COVID-19.
They said they were inspired by the President’s call on corporate entities and individuals to contribute their quota towards fighting the respiratory disease.
The presentation was performed on behalf of the staff by Mr Domena Antwi-Berko, Deputy Eastern Regional Surveyor, Survey and Mapping Department and Mr Oscar Torsu, Officer in charge of the Ghana Enterprise Land Information Implementation Unit, Accra.
The team said they were inspired by the President’s call to compulsorily wear face masks whenever one is stepping out.
They said the gesture was a way of giving back to the society as well as supporting the Management’s efforts of providing Personal Protective Equipment to the staff of the Commission.
They have already donated some face masks to some institutions including Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Institute of Surveyors, Taxi Unions in Koforidua, Ghana Education Service in Koforidua and Forestry Commission in Koforidua.
Alhaji Sulemana Mahama, the Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, lauded the kind gesture of the staff.
Mr K. D Osei, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the Commission, received the items on behalf of the Commission and praised them for their kind gesture, saying it is worth emulating by all.
