GCB Bank donates to Ho, Dambai central markets

Ho, May 27, GNA – The GCB Bank in Ho has donated water storage facilities to the Ho and the Dambai central markets towards curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the Volta and Oti regions.
The two 1000-litre polytanks are part of GCB’s support to markets across the country to serve handwashing purposes.

Mr Joseph Agyeman, Volta/Oti Regional Business Development Manager of the Bank said markets were common places for the spread of the virus thus the initiative.

He said personal hygiene needed to be maintained in the various markets even after the pandemic and called on market women to cultivate the habit of regular hand washing with soap under running water and other hygienic practices.

Dr. Archibald Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, commended GCB Bank for the foresight, and called for similar support for markets in Agbozume, Aflao, Hohoe and Kpando.

Mr. John Jerry Kweku Hayibor, Acting Volta Regional Manager of the Bank said they introduced an electronic form of mobile money transaction, G-Money, to reduce physical contacts with money in the wake of COVID19 and invited the public to register for the G-Money for easier and faster transactions.

The Bank also donated some Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to four health institutions in the Volta region-the Ketu South Municipal Hospital, Keta Municipal Hospital, Ho Municipal Hospital and Hohoe Municipal Hospital, two health directorates and the COVID19 testing centre at University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).
