Tarkwa Na Aboso (W/R), May 26, GNA – The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency, Mr George Meriku Duker in collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Benjamin Kessie have presented food items to the Muslim community in the Municipality.
The items included 30 bags of rice, 10 bags of sugar, and 10 cartons of milk.
Presenting the items at a brief ceremony, Mr Duker said they have been offering such donations annually to support Muslims to successfully carry out their month-long Ramadan fasting.
He expressed appreciation to the Muslim community for their continuous prays for Ghana, stressing that, “we are hoping this COVID-19 pandemic which has affected the world will be over very soon so we can go on with our normal activities”.
According to Mr Duker, the deplorable state of roads in many towns in the constituency had been his greatest challenge.
“Currently, the Ministry of Roads and Highways has approved 20 kilometers in Tarkwa, seven kilometers in Dompim, six kilometers each in Simpa and Nsuaem, these roads will be tarred very soon” he announced.
Mr Kessie on his part appealed to Muslim leaders to use this occasion to educate their members to adhere strictly to the social and physical distancing protocols initiated by the Ghana Health Service and World Health Organization to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alhaji Mohammed Sani, Deputy Chief Imam for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, who received the items on behalf of the community thanked the MP and MCE for the kindness.
